A word from the chief of course for autumn 2008
23.10.2008 8:15
We have started the work on next year’s Finlandia Ski Marathon at the beginning of September. We have contacted the land owners to discuss about how the routes will be set. We have also agreed on where it will be necessary to cut down some trees and what effects the autumn sowing will have on setting up the tracks.
We have cleared the brushes away with saws and cutters, sometimes also using a mower. There has been plenty of work with removing rocks and setting up pipelines on places where the track goes over a ditch. Since during the summer it rained quite a lot in Finland, we had to do some work with repairing a bridge at the area of Hollola. The clearing of the route is almost finished. There is still some removing of rocks, setting up pipelines and leveling the ground to do, but I expect it to be finished when the ground is still soft. Now let’s just wait for the temperatures to drop below zero and for the first snow to arrive!
