62 km using classic technique shortened
The organizing committee of Finlandia Ski Marathon decided yesterday that the 62km route route of classic technique will be shortened to 50 kilometers. This is due to the lack of snow in Southern Finland. Last year a similar decision had to be made due to not enough snow.

All the other routes will be skied as planned, which means that the 32 kilometers using classic technique will be skied on Saturday 21.2.2009 and the 50 and 20 kilometers using free technique will be skied on 22.2.2009.
About 4000 skiers have registered for the race so far.
