Virtual Finlandia-hiihto

Virtual Finlandia-hiihto is an virtual alternative to Finlandia-hiihto for organizing an event during a pandemic. The purpose of the virtual event is to give ski enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in the event independently at their desired location and as safely as possible.

You can register for the virtual event on Finlandia-hiihto's website. The event has a time limit for participating in the event. You can register for the event in advance. The registration is open until 14th March 2021.

The event can be done between 20th February and 14th March 2021 while our result service system opens and you can upload your results.

For distances, you can choose a shorter option of 10-20 km or a longer one of 30-65 km. The skiing should be done within a day to validate the result correctly. If you are measuring a result (eg smartwatch, smartphone, or similar device), you can stop your time during your breaks.

You should use only skis while participating in the event, you can use both classic or free-style techniques to ski. Update: After listening your feedback the event can be completed with sports of your liking like skiing, running or cycling. Only sky is the limit!

Please note that Virtual skiing is not a competition. No prizes will be awarded. 10 entries to the 2022 Finlandia-hiihto will be drawn among the participants. Each valid participant will receive a special Virtual Finlandia-skiing diploma from their accomplishment.

To participate in Virtual Finlandia-hiihto you will do so independently and at your own risk. The organizer is not responsible for any damage, whether it is your health or your property. Participants must comply with the local governmental regulations.

The participation fee for Virtual Finlandia skiing is 15EUR, regardless of the trip. The entry fee includes a digital badge that you can print for yourself, processing the results, and a digital diploma. In addition, you also have the opportunity to participate in the Worldloppet Virtual Racing League.
